After graduating from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville with a BA in Fiber Arts, Madalene Layne opened Knit One, Weave Too. Her addiction to knitting began in school and has only gathered momentum since. She is often traveling the country on buying trips for the shop or attending fibers conferences, but when she is home, she is tireless in her role as Queen of the Knitting Addicts. She never rests from answering questions, fixing dropped stitches and discombobbled cables, and controling the raucous Knit Night attendees.
Linda taught herself to knit and crochet when she was 25 years old. It was the only activity that didn't make noise while her husband Joe was working his way through graduate school! What started as an activity to keep her mentally stimulated yet relaxed and quiet turned into a business of custom hand knit sweaters for children. Linda sold her sweaters at craft fairs and bazaars, and just before leaving Ohio, her sweaters were featured in a high end boutique. Now retired for over a year, Linda can be found knitting socks and kids' sweaters. She has also started designing fun children sweaters.
